The Isle of Thanet and Kent offer some great ways for kids to spend an exciting day out while they are on holiday in Westgate.

All the venues below are accessible by car, while it is also possible to take the train or bus to some of them.

Dreamland Fun Park
A great variety of rides and attractions for all the family, including The Looping Star, The Frisbe, and the famous Scenic Railway vintage rollercoaster. Great for a family day out, or for a group of children as discounts are available. Open 10am to 6pm, March to October, free parking. Drive there, bus it or take the train. Map.

Leisure-Time's Children's Fun Park Westbrook Prom
Trampolines, pirate ship, mega slide, double roundabout, Octopus ride, Diving Bell maze, Bumper cars, swings and toddlers area. Close to beach with good cafe. Open March to October, 10am to 6pm. Map.

Margate Caves
Walk through a thousand years of history, marvel at the smugglers refuge, torture chambers and dungeons. Open from Easter to October every day 10am to 4pm. Groups welcome and private tours available. Drive there, bus it or take the train.

Pitch, Putting, Mini & Crazy Golf!
St Mildred's has a fine little putting green (ring 01843 297296 for opening times), while you can get mini golfing on The Esplanade in Margate. To get crazy, you will have to go to Hodges Gap in Cliftonville (ring 01843 298995).

Wingham Bird Park

Farming World at Nash Court
Get a breath of the country and see the traditional farm animals, heavy horses and rare breeds. Ramsgate Motor Museum

Manston Spitfire & Hurricane Museum
RAF Manston was the closest airfield to the enemy coast and bore the brunt of the early Luftwaffe air attacks Permanently housed at Manston are splendid and original examples of the two World War 2 fighter aircraft . Free admission and parking. Merlin Cafeteria.Open throughout the year 10am - 4pm.

Nelson Park Riding Centre
They teach all abilities from novices as well as children on our range of horses and ponies that have great temperaments. The staff are all BHS/ABRS Qualified instructors,
